Background: David was raised in a small mountain community known as Love, Va.
In the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains. David started playing piano at the age
of 5 years old. Then moved to guitar, mandolin, dobro and banjo. He considers
his best instruments to be guitar, dobro & piano.
David has toured
with Gospel quartets playing piano and singing. He also played with former "Statler
Brother" the late "Lew Dewitt". His duties in Dewitts band covered
piano, dobro, banjo and harmony vocals.
David has played in various bluegrass
bands locally and has had his own bluegrass band Virginia Blend.
David brings to "Phoenix"
extensive experience from a wide variety of musical paths, and is a nice addition
to the band on Guitar, dobro, lead and harmony vocals. |

Sparks, J.D. Crowe, Country Gentlemen & others. Influences - Country Gentlemen,
Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, Doyle Lawson, Merle Haggard to
name a few. Comments:
"Call it luck or call it fate. I've been very fortunate through out my musical
career to have either been a part of or been around some of the best musicians
and singers in bluegrass music. " "To say I have been able
to play and sing with "Bill Harrell", "Charlie Waller", Larry
Sparks, and others, is to truly say I have been blessed. And now to be a part
of bluegrass music with three of my dearest friends (not to mention 3 great musicians,
singers and song writers) is an absolute dream come true. We've all played together
at some point & time through the years, but to finally be together
now as "Phoenix", for me, is a gift from above! "

Family: Brother - Buddy Driskill, Sister - Maggie Franklin, and Son - Neil Driskill.
Hobbies: Hunting, Fishing and Pickin 'Bluegrass music. Background:
Played with Chief Powhatan and Harvest in the 70's; Skyline Express, Alvin Breeden
and the Virginia Cut-Ups and Lonesome River Band in the 80's. Comments:
"Now, I've come full circle and am living a dream by being part of a band
that consists of 3 of my closest friends that make up PHOENIX! " "My
influences through out the years have been Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Stanley
Brothers, J.D. Crowe. Bluegrass
festivals and concerts to me are like a big family reunion. There are always familiar
friends to see and new friends to make. I really enjoy kickin' back and sharing
stories and a laugh or to. There is no other music in the world where the performers
and the fans can meet and greet and shake howdy's like you can in bluegrass music.

Jim Green Hobbies: Hunting & Fishing Musical
Background: Jim was born in Lewistown, MD, near the Catoctin Mountains. Jim got
his first guitar at the age of 6 years old and has been playing ever since. He
was early influenced by Flat & Scruggs, Reno & Smiley and Mac Wiseman.
Right after
high school, Jims music was put on hold while serving in the Navy for four
years, including three tours of Viet Nam. In 1973, he was encouraged by Geoff
Stelling to get back into music. Musical
Background: " Over the past several years. Ive played in various bluegrass
bands and also spent time playing with'Fastest Grass Alive and Michelle Nixon
and Drive which has been a great experience. Now, Im proud to be playing
with Phoenix. " "When
Im not playing music, my wife and I spend a lot of our time building &
selling houses and staying in touch with our four children and four grandchildren.
The
motivation for playing for over 40 years is the love of the music, and the enjoyment
of the fellowship with the band, performing on stage, and meeting the fans."
